LOOKING TO THE F UTURE Thinking, planning and working are the stuff of which the future is made. But first, we must appre- ciate the past. We must take the best of what the past offers. From there, we go on to new heights of achievement . . . This is the principle, we, the yearbook staff wish to impress upon you by the theme we have used. In our own district we have seen the one-room school house of 1910 develop in- to plans for the multi-million dollar junior high school building now under construction. Right now, we as students can set up future achievements by doing the best we possibly can in our studies. AW LT. COL. JOHN GLENN Within this centm-y have emerged many outstanding individuals who are excellent models for us to imitate. People laughed at Or- ville and Wilbur Wright. Now they and the KITTY HAWK are .na- tional institutions. Defying death, Charles A. Lindbergh became a world hero by his trans-Atlantic flight in his famed SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS. In this space age our man is Lt. Col. John Glenn. While we sat in our classrooms, on February 20, 1962, Colonel Glenn opened up a new world of opportunity for us. In 1903 the KITTY HAWK was only able to cover 851 feet in its flight. In 1962 the FRIENDSHIP SEVEN circled the globe three times. There is no doubt that these are CHANGING TIMES.
