LL-X55 XXI LLONIL by Robert Rodler We the class of 1947 heartily welcome you parents teachers friends and underclassmen to our Class Day exercises First we wish to express our whole hearted thanks to our parents and teachers for the expert guidance and sympathetic understand ing which they have given us through the years We also wish to extend to the underclassmen our best wishes for a glorious future patterned after their illustrious predecessors the class of of 1947 Lastly we sincerely hope that you will appreciate the following exerc1ses CI ASS HISIUHX Patricia Mara In this year of nineteen forty seven Alma Mater bids goodbye to us In the fall of nine teen forty three she welcomed us We were thrilled to be freshmen sixty six strong At our first class meeting the following officers were elected President Glenn Bacon VICE President Ronald Messier Secretary Gloria de Villers Student Council Robert Merrick The class advisers were Mr Hobbs and Miss Sheehan M1ss Eleanor Murray of Worcester joined our faculty at this tlme In March Miss Helen Kennedy left us to teach at Bartlett High in Webster and MISS Julia Sheehan took her place To add to the excitement of being in hlgh school we had a record breaklng year for assemblies Our very first speaker was Del Obert of the Crowell Collier Publishing Company In November Donald Eames of the Nlerchant Marlne spoke to us for a few class periods Later 1n the winter Sergeant Charles Cazeault gave an 1nsp1r1ng talk on South America In March both Lleutenant Kenneth Doollttle and Lieutenant Paul Stoll addressed us In the sprlng we enJoyed two fllms The Forgotten Village revealmg the shocking con Page Nineteen F' ditions existing in Mexico and Th1s Amazing America featuring Paul Bunyan During the last week 1n March the High School Student Body presented the play Miss Jimmy coached by Miss MSDDIX Theresa Baril Barbara Carlson and Norma Chaffee were the freshmen who contributed to its success Our freshman year ended with a picnic held at Carbuncle Park 1n Oxford We spent the c1pat1ng in the various races In September 1944 Alma Mater greeted fifty one sophisticated sophomores Our class advlsers were Miss Murray and Mr Hobbs In February Miss Sheehan left and M1ss R1edl took her place The class officers elected for this year were President Herbert Mahota VICE President Glenn Bacon Secretary Gloria de Vlllers Treasurer Roger Grondin Student Council Theresa Barll and Robert Merrick Our friend Mr Obert came to start us off on the annual magazine drive Mr Charles Woodman came also to talk about fo est fires In January MISS Coleman entertained us at 1 w w y qi w 41 A J A y - l 1 I ' 1 1 v v '- , ' v 1 Y 1 YV Y Y A A K . . - .. . . . .
