As an integral part of the homemaking program, F.H.A. provides opportunities for students to have additional experiences in planning and carrying out activities related to homemaking. Membership is voluntary. The club meets three times each month, with two of the meetings held during the school day and the other held at night. Anyone who is enrolled in Vocational Agriculture is eligible for membership in the club. A boy must be fourteen years old and be accepted by the members and the advisor. A few of the purposes of the Club are as follows: 1. Develop agricultural leadership 2. Create more interest in the intelligent choice of farming occupations Page Eighty-Two 3. Develop character, train for useful citizenship, and foster patriotism 4. Encourage and practice thrift. The club meets twice a month during school and twice during the summer months. Contests in six different phases of farming are sponsored each year with other schools. How- ever, with a little luck this season could have been 5-2-2. Many important players will be leaving at the end of this year. Seniors who have played out- standing ball for the XVildcats this year are: Harper Ruff, Albert Capps, Billy Elliott, Boy Dean, Iohn Critcher, Donnie Hawks, Billy Daniel, and Cas Spencer. In track, the boys participate in different events: the 100, 220, 440, 880, mile, shot-put, discus, broad jump, and pole vault. Coach Iohn Parham, who helped organize track in District III, will direct the track team in meets against the Orphanage, Henderson, and Northern. VVe are sure that Ox- ford High, which has a Hne track tradition, will be proud 'of its 1961 track team.
