K tw f ,f I FOOTBALL This year our football team had its best record in several years. They won five games while losing only three and tying one. They beat Roxboro 13-7, Graham 19-0, .Oxford Orphan- age 28-0, Scotland Neck 25-12, and Southern Durham 33-12. They were defeated by Chap- el Hill 8-0, Hillsboro 13-6, and Henderson 19-7. They tied Northern 7-7. The Wildcats led the conference in defense, allowing opponents only 8.7 points per game and were third in offense, scor- ing an average of 15.6 points per game. The Wild- cats will lose only 4 starters by Way of graduation, and so they will be in the thick of the title race next year. The seniors on this year's team were Charles Belcher, Ray Willrford, David Norris, Jimmy Frazier, Bobby Crisson, Tommy Morgan, Finley Johnson, and Bobby Finch. BASEBALL The baseball team under the direction of Coach Al Habit is expected to be the dark horse of the conference this year. The Wildcats will be weakest in pitching, however, a strong outfield and infield is expected to make up for this deficiency. The team is led by all-conference catcher, Harper Ruff, as well as Jimmy Frazier, Billy Daniel, Billy Frazier, Ray Dickerson, and Billy Elliott. Best of luck to the Wildcats! 1 88 BASKETBALL The 1959-60 basketball team, led by Co- Captains David Norris and Charles Belcher be- gan a very successful season this year by win- ning over Oxford Orph- ange, Craham, and Franklinton. They lost only to Henderson and Chapel Hill. Under the guidance of our coach, Mr. Al Hab- it, the team has acquired a vigorous desire and determination to Win. The team includes seniors, Tommy Lanier, David Nor- ris, Larry Sizemore, Charles Belcher, Ray Willi- ford, juniors, Harper Buff, Billy Elliott, Billy Daniel, jimmy Hester, sophomores, Van Wood, Marc Dug- gins, james Dickerson, and Jerry Sizemore. TRACK The track team, coached by Mr. Iohn Parham, will enter into its hardest schedule in its young history this year, although Oxford is without the services of most of last year's lettermen. The nu- cleus of the team will be formed around Donnie Hawks, Roy Dean, George Pat Tarry, and Bill Hicks. However, many positions are still open and may be filled by anyone. Despite this, we are sure that our trackmen will come up with a creditable season.
