The Monogram Club, organized for the first time this year, is com- posed of those boys who have won a letter in one of the extracurricu- lar athletic activities offered at Oxford High School. To encourage active participation in sports, to foster good sportsmanship and to develop desirable character traits are the aims of this organization. After boys have played the required number of quarters and have received a letter, they are automatically eligible for membership in the Monogram Club. At the termination of the school year each senior mem- ber is awarded a sweater indicating his association with the club. ,- x ,s,':- 1 Qi . .-pr K f r F ff Vyhy g l l .X .4-N. , ,QAM '05 FRANK BULLOCK PATSY HUGHES MARY ANN McSWAlN SALLIE WEBB President Vice President Secretary Tre-BSUFGF Let us lead by serving others is the motto for the Beta Club, Oxford High School's only honor society. Our senior band has been quite active this year-the exciting football season has passed-but there are still busy days ahead. During football season, the band performed for all halftimes, the junior band ioining them for the last two games. They participated in the Henderson and Oxford Christmas parades, a parade in Durham, represented the Oxford Orphanage at the Orphanage Bowl Game in Raleigh, and performed for the halftime show at the Northern-Oxford game, Northern Durham. The band has played for several assembly programs, and of course, there will be more of these performances in the future. We are very proud of our nine new instruments, and twenty-four new music stands. MAJORETTES Ann Saddler Patty Saddler Betty Wilson Mary Wells Ruff Diane Saunders Though a great many of our iunior band members are new this year, we feel they have done remarkably well. We have several members of senior band calibre. During the football season the iunior band participated, along with our senior band, in two halftime shows, and marched in our Christmas parade. ln the near future, they will play for an assembly program. The junior band, quite naturally, does not participate in as many public affairs as our senior band. They continue to work diligently be- hind the scenes, because their purpose is to act as a feeder for the senior band. They are interested in acquiring the ability to step into the shoes of our senior band members as they graduate, and they have been working very, very hard toward the goal.We can be proud of them and we have some excellent members whom we will be seeing more of in the future. .Q 5 .-,, N -.
