DKFOIIII WINS GUIINTY TIIIIIIIIIMEIIT Oxford won the finals in the Cpunty tournament last Saturday Dlght by defeating the Argonia quintet 40-213 Oxford won the right to enter the finals against fkrgonia by defeating Belle Plaine 111 the semi-finals 48-21 Saturday afternoon. In the finals Saturdayenight Ox- 1 ford' took an early lead over Ar- gonia which they held throughout the game. , Members of the Oxford county tournament team were: Bob As- ber, Max Feaster, Jimmie Witte, Willis Conover, William Conover, Richard Asper, Don Castle, Darrel Canfield, Darrel Brown, and James -Robinson. OXFORD 30-NORWICH 32 The' Oxford Wildcats ended their basketball season last Thursday night when they lost to the quintet from Norwich 'in the Regional Tourna- ment at Winfield. The game was close throughout with ,Oxford lead-. ing at the end of the first quarter, 7-4g Oxford led 'at the end, of the half 17-133 Norwich led at the end of the-third quarter 21-24 and the game ended with Oxford 30 and Norwich 32 The team that entered the Flint Hills Invitation Double Elimina- tion Tournament at Burden played Atlanta on Thursday evening and lost by a score of 14-25. Martin Was high point man with 5 points and Conwell was second high with 4 points. On Friday night Oxford played Cedarvale in the losing bracket and lost by a score of 7-17. Half time score was Oxford 2, Cedar- vale 8. Members 'of the team who went to Burden were: -Bud Farni, Wo- mack Martin, Jack Shumard, Jim- mie Conwell, Bud Farris, Gary Johnson, Jack Rush and Bill Wheeler. OXFORD WINS THIRD IN B-ELIMINATION Oxford won third place in -the B-Elimination tournament held at Mulvane last week-end. Oxford played its first game of the tourna- ment on Wednesday night and eas- ily defeated the Udall team by a score of 41-20. ' A Oxford didnot play' on Thursday night, but met the strong Rose Hill team on Friday night and suffered their first defeat in B-Competition for this basketball season. Rose Hill led at tne half 11-12 and the final score was Oxford 24, Rose Hill 315 however, the game was close up until the final' few -minutes of play when Rose Hill surged ahead. , In- the consolation'--game Saturday night Oxfond took an early lead ov- er Douglass and held the lead through out with the game ending Oxford 41, Douglass 26. Witte made 21 points for high point man. V S 1 A The Oxford boys have been' invi- ted to the Regional Tournament at Winfield and play 'their first Same at 8:50 Thursday evening with Nor- wich, first'place winners of the Ar- gonia tournament. .
