al!! ii, COUNTY TOURNAMENT TEAM Oxford Wins B-E1im- ination Tournament In the :final game Oxford played Rose Hill. At the end of the first quarter the score tied, 8 points for each team: half time score was Oxford 15, Rose Hill 12. Rose Hill gained one point during the the third quarter which ended with Oxford 20, Rose Hill 18. Oxford was able to outscore Rose Hill in the final quarter making 13 points to 8 for Rose Hill. In the latter part of this game Harold Jones suffered a fractured foot, but continued to play until the end of the game, as he did not realize the extent of the injury. This-injury will mark the end of High School basketball for Harold. REGICNAL, SEMI-FINAL TOURNAMENT TEAM Oxford Wins County Tournament Oxford took an early lead in the final game and Geuda never threat- ened. The second team played during the fourth quarter. 1 The game was spectacular as many fast plays and team work on 0xford's part kept the audience interested to see what play would function next. The final score was Oxford 54, Geuda 30. This was one of the cleanest and best played games of the tournament. Milton won third place, Geuda Springs second and Oxford first. 'VIr. Regnier presented the tro- phies to the captains at the close of the last lzame. B-ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT TEAM Oxford Wins Regional Basketball Tournament For the third time this season the Wildcats brought home the first place trophy from tourna- ment competition. Last Saturday night, the Oxford Wildcats con- quered the Clearwafer quintet to the score of 41-36 to win first pace in the Regional tournament at Arkansas City. This win entitles the Oxford boys to enter the sem - finaltournament at Eureka this week where they will play Moline in the first round. sian ln-we Q Q91

THE ARK LIGHT, ARKANSASTCITY I-nm Wellington, Oxford Emerge Victorious from Regionals Crusaders Whip Winfield in Class AA Tourney FinaIs'While Wildcats Cop B Division by Defeating Clearwater Wellington and Oxford left Ar- kansas City Saturday night with the coveted titles of 1944 winners of the Class AA and Class B brackets of the regional basket- ball tourney held Thursday, Fri- day and Saturday in the auditor- ium-gymnasium. Wellington won the title in the Class AA division by defeating the strong Winfield Vikings by a score of 26 to 19. Oxford was crowned Class B champions after trouncing Clearwater by a score of 41 to 36 in the fastest ,game played Saturday night. Teams entered in the Class AA bracket were Wellington, Win- field, ARKANSAS 'JITY,- and Wichita East.
