After many years the class of l9b7 resumed the project of publishing an annual. The class decided upon the name, THE OAK LEAVES OF l9b7, as a suitable name for later publications. ea. 51' cn K 5544! THE ECHO came into existence under the guidance of Mrs. Ethel Larm Stembel, the English teacher, in 1919-20. During her years in this school,the paper flourished. Later, Miss Adilda McCord did much to advance the life and growth of THE ECHO. It died out for a few years, but it was revived during the 1952-53 term and is now progressing well.

Second row-R.Henderson-J.Tagg-Mr. Hood-M.Scheurich-M.Cochran. their classes to represent them on the Student Council. Work ing with Mr. Hood's direction, the Council has helped solve many oft-arising problems here in the school. They have also presented several interesting speakers to our assemblies dur- ing the year. Some of these have been the following men:Rt. Rev. Mrsg. Foley, Catholic, Rev. Vance, Methodist, 'Big Rich, Indiana poet, Clarence Damon, Purdue, Thomas McConnell, Jr., Armistice Day speaker, Rev. Voyles, Nazarene Church, Rev. Schram, Church of Christ, Rev. Hanstra, Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Headley, Christian Church. Each year the upper six grades choose two students from U SOROSIS SCHOLARSHIP For over twenty-five years the Sorosis Club has taken an active interest in the senior girls of Oxford High School, offering each year a scholarship loan to a worthy and deserv- ing girl. These loans, in the amount of S100 and interest free for four years, are to be used to further the education of the recipient, who agrees to repay at that time if she pos- sibly can. The loan is made on the basis of scholarship,char- acter, and need. To know these girls better, the club enter- tains with a well-appointed party during April each year.
