It has participated in several programs and contests, the first one being in the fall on Sunday, November 19, when all the music classes participated. The county festival was held for the first time since l9L2 at Wadena on March llth. Most of the county schools were represented and each school fur- nished a special number, ours being 'Who is Sy1via', sung by the mixed ensemble of eight voices. Several members of the choir entered the state con- test which took place at Whiting, Indiana, on March 29. These groups included the mixed ensemble of eight voices, a girls' trio, a boys' quartette, and five solos The soloists were the following people Jean Ann Campbell, Myrna Bell, Geraldine Kenyon, Cecil Fre and Billy Sanders The program for the contest was also given at a Farm Bureau meeting on March 19th There were 82 schools participating in the contest with over lbOO events Of the 9 events from Oxford that entered, 5 of them won second place, which was verygnod considering that none of them had taken special training Margaret Rommell, pianist of grade 8, was also a contestant and won a second division rating The contestants had a fine time during the day and two flat tires were the only things that marred the perfection of the trip some of the students shopped of the time listened the other contestants, thereby deriving much benefit between numbers and the rest HIGH bCHOOL ORCHESTRA The High school Orchestra, which was organized this year, furnishes music for dances at the school parties The orchestra is composed of seven pieces two ooro nets, three saxaphones piano, and drums It plays the latest song hits Orchestra practice is on Thursday and Friday under the direction of Mr Tipton . .
