Oriental Evening The class of 1969 presented their Junior Prom Oriental Even- ing featuring the Silver Crown Orchestra on May 25, 1968. The fantasy of colors covering the gigantic fan accented the throne and set the mood for the coming excitement of the evening and the coronation. To climax the festivities, Dorothy Hill and Jay Moore were crowned Queen and King by last year’s Queen Debbie Rice. Pages Brian Pals and Jolinda Nelson 22

Contestants were: Elaine D'Ambra, Alan Dutton, Donald Sheldon, David Walsh, Helen Popovczak, and Susan Barrows Oratorical contest December 2nd was a big day for the three students who won the American Legion Oratori- cal Contest. An assignment about the United States Constitution was given to sophmores, juniors and seniors. Out of these, six finalists were chosen. With Mrs. Grimes to assist them, the six wrote their speeches and gave them at an assembly. The County American Legion judged the local contest. Don Sheldon took first place, Alan Dutton, second, and David Walsh, third. Congratulations to Don for also winning first place at the County contest and proceeding into the regionals. 24 This year the Bausch and Lomb Science Award was presented to Barbara Lorimer by Mr. Paser. Oxford is proud of Gary Oliver who participated in the Orange Bowl Golf Tournament.
