Senior Officers and Advisors ■4 Our History The Class of 1961 feels that it is unique in one respect—it has selected the same person as president four suc- cessive years. Marian Wallace, our lovely soprano, has this distinction. If she doesn't live too far away from the rest of us, she will probably be the one to gather us from the four points of the compass for a nostalgic type of class reunion. When? Perhaps in 1971 for our tenth—our first chance for some of us to see the changes in each other. Mrs. Roberts has been the single ad- visor to be with us during the entire four years although Mr. Tefft and Mr. Walsh in 1957, Mrs. Marble and Mr. Vogelgsang in 1958, and Mr. Paris for the last two years have helped us en route to graduation. In reading the senior activities we take pleasure in realizing our partici- pation in the principal organizations of the school in positions of leadership and honor. We also have two European travelers --Carol Stratton and Nancy Ford, who were members of the Christian Friend- ship Caravan in the summer of 1960. As a class, we had our fun, too, when we put on our class dances-- particularly Magic Mist, our Junior Prom ! Another big moment during 1960 was when our rings arrived, not that some of us were anxious to wear our own. On the contrary, we had our eyes on someone else's. No wonder we couldn't wait. During this same junior year we worked to earn money by selling sub- scriptions to magazines and our local paper. Now we have arrived! We are sen- iors and in Room 308, for the second year! (Did we ever make last year's seniors jealous of 308, the traditional room for seniors!) We have had our class dance, Sound Spectacular; and by the time this is read in the BLACK- HAWK, we shall have put on our play, TIGER HOUSE, gone to another Snow Ball and another Junior Prom--but this time as guests. Being seniors is thrilling, but it is also sad. In the fall, when we chose our class colors, the red rose, and our motto, We only part to meet again, we real- ized that soon we would graduate and leave behind us our happy days at Oxford Academy. FRONT ROW, left to right: Loretta Cole, Treasurer; Marian Wallace, President. SECOND ROW: Howard Stilwell, Vice-President; Mary Whitmore. Secretary; Mr. Paris, Mrs. Roberts, Advisors.
