enior Cyan .jliafory In September 1955 we ventured warily into our freshman year of high school under the guidance of our advisors. Mr. and Mrs. Richmond, and class officers, Robert Race, Dennis DeLong, Barbara Jones, and Lois Wilkie. In the fall we put on a very successful Raggedy Ann Dance, where we crowned our King and Queen of Rags. That year we also started contributing to the school annual, 'EBlackhawk. when we started our sophomore year, still with the wonderful guidance of Mr. and Mrs. Richmond and our new class officers, Robert Race, Peter Clintsman, william Jones, and Barbara Tefft, we were a little more sure of ourselves. We ventured out into the outside world to sell tickets for the Magician Show sponsored by the Oxford Firemen and tickets to the Colgate Men's Choir sponsored by the Rotary. Then, after all the town folk were used to our beaming faces, we were out again, selling subscriptions to the Oxford Review Times. Later in the year, we put on a Sadie Hawkins Dance. Our junior year was indeed a busy one for all of us, including our advisors, Mr. and Mrs. Richmond, and our class officers, Robert Race, Ray Hallock,Susan Purdy, and Marian McNitt. In the early fall we picked out our class rings, and after what seemed to us like ages, we received them just before Christ- mas. Also in the fall we were once again knocking on doors, selling magazine subscriptions. This venture proved very profitable and we were all very proud of ourselves. Early in the spring we began planning for the biggest event of all--the Junior Prom. We chose our theme, Stairway to the Stars , and began decorating with stardust and angel hair everywhere. The fun of planning it and the work we put into it, turned the Prom into a great success. At the end of our junior year we lost our two wonder- ful advisors, Mr. and Mrs. Richmond. We were all very sad to see them leave. At last we began that long awalted year-our senior year -with Mr. Walsh and Mrs. Fowlston as our advisors and class officers, Barbara Jones, Linda Emmlck. Judy Fleming, and Richard Swift. ln the early fall we put on a Victory Hop to honor the football players. We chose our senior play, Blithe Spirit. the very outstanding Noel Coward play. It was put on two nights and received good reviews. Our class colors are royal blue and silverg our flower is a yellow rose: our motto is The best ls yet to be. and our song ls 'Graduation Means Good -bye. In the spring we received the 1959 edition of file Blackhawk. Now it wlll not be long before that glorious graduation night. Now we must advance into the world of colleges and jobs, but we will not soon forget our wonderful years in Oxford Academy. cnior Cfaaa We, the class of 1959, being of sound mind and body bequeath the following: Burt Alger's engine trouble to Carl QTinkerj Cummings. . . .Alice Andrew's long hair to Patty Ford ....
