Each step signifies the com- plications, problems, and joys of teen- age life. With all the examinations, tests, and homework, students may find themselves stumbling up that difficult climb. But once he has taken that last step, he'l1 admit it was a worthwhile journey upward. The memories of dreamy music at dances, the screams of victory at the football games, and the humorous play will bring a smile to his face that seems to say, Wish I were a freshman, so that I might start the climb again. Mr. Wilson helps Gary Howe plan his schedule for next semester. W The main objectives in guidance are to aid the student in self-appraisal of his characteristics and abilities, to assist him in selecting his vocational choice of life work, and to help him in his edu- cational planning toward his vocational goal. Group guidance is carried on in the ninth grade Orientation classes and individual guidance in the person to person conferences between the student and his counselor. Miss Stewart, Director of Guidance, plans schedules and oversees the test ing program. I3 Experience is the best teacher -fifty-live students are taking .advantage of the opportunity of earning as they are learning offered by the co-op training course. In his junior year any high school student may spend part of each day at one of the local business firms and receive high school credit, as well as pay, for work well done. The Student Council is the voice of the stu- dent body. Its members make a study of the vital interests of the students and then try to carry them out. This year the Student Council was in charge of the homecoming parade, the election of the queen, and the dance. They revised the Owosso High Hand C73 Book to suit the needs of the students. When a student becomes a Senior, he has reached the peak of his teenage life His ideas and reasoning become more mature as the years go by. The clock in the library has marked the passage of time and has seen students study for the knowledge they desire. If the clock were human, it probably would remark that this last year in high school always goes the fastest. It, too, might hear some Senior say, It seems as if I started high school only yesterday. Intramural Sports Blau of 960 The doors that were once open to us are now closed, leaving us with only memories of achievements, fun, and ac- complishments, especially for this year. This year introduced us to the ser- ious court room drama entitled The Night of january 16. South Pacific, our Senior Prom, was a spectacular sight with its waterfalls and jungle scenes. The Juniors put on a Junior- Senior Reception for our class that. was very entertaining. Going to Walled Lake for our Senior trip led us up to graduation time and into a new world of opportunity. What a year this has been for excite- ment, thrills, and joyous events. Stu- dents were given a chance to use their talents by working on our first dra- matical presentation Nuts in May, and their junior dance. September 26: Lansing Eastern vs Owosso-Here. Mike Gorte provided a big thrill for the Owosso fans when he scored the only touchdown. October 3: Lapeer vs Owosso-There. Mike Hornus scored four times in the First half behind the fine blocking of John Mackey and the fine signal calling of Jim Harkema. October 10: jackson vs Owosso-Here. Even though the team was defeated, all the fans agreed that the Trojans played a lot of good hard ball and never gave up. October 17: Lansing Sexton vs Owosso-Here. Mike Gorte carried on when Mike Hornus was injured. Baker scored a touchdown when Jack St. Peters, John Mackey, and Bill Hahn blocked for him. October 30: Alpena vs Owosso-There.
