Foreword Have you ever paused to think about the symbolism of a door? A door opens on new fields of endeavors and oppor- tunitiesp a door closes upon past mistakes. Each September these doors open to in- coming freshmen who are offered train- ing in various skills planned to prepare them for their later years. Each June these doors close upon the Seniors who have completed their training and open for them upon life itself. And through these portals, one and all, they came and went their various ways. I Student Council The Student Council is a representative body chosen by the various classes and home rooms. The seniors have eight members, the iuniors, six, and the sophomores, six. Since there are so many sophomore home rooms, four extra members are selected at large. The freshmen have four representatives. The function of the Council is to discuss and pass any measure for the good of the school or recommend it to the faculty for their approval. Last year the Council purchased our sound system. 'in- Mr. Holman helps Roger Lic k t ei g, a sophomore choose his course. Guidance GUIDANCE directs the student though his high school career. When a freshman enters high school, his advisor outlines for him his entire four year course. To aid the student in selecting the field for which he is best fitted, a series of tests are given during his sophomore year. Not only does the advisor help him in selecting his course, but also keeps in contact with him throughout his high school career. Mrs. Minnie Gebhart heads this department. l ,. g B. Wilson ,D. Season Highlights Under the able leadership of its head coach, Elroy Hottinger, assisted by Larry Hutchinson and Bernard Conklin, Owosso's Varsity Football Team had a remarkable season. The Troians record of 7 wins against 2 losses was the second best since 1934. Travelling to Arthur Hill for their first game, Owosso's team played exceptional football the first half but collapsed in the second half, losing 7 - 33. Pitted against Lansing Eastern the follow- ing week, with spirits high, and determined to push their capabilities to the limit, our team went into battle. With 7 seconds re- maining, a do-or-die pass from Smith to COACH CONKLIN COACH HOTTINGER Hanchet clinched the game 20 to 13, thus beginning our team's winning streak. After defeating Midland 25 to 20 and trouncing Bay City Handy 26 to O, our team finally lost 7 to 34 to Coach Doolittle's speedsters of Flint Central. Homecoming night and our team faced the strong Alpena eleven. Desperately struggling in the final minute and goal to goal, Alpena's charge was met and stopped by Owosso's stubborn linemen on the three yard line. Thus Alpena was edged 7 to 6. The remainder of the season was a suc- cess with the disposal of Mt. Clemens 34 to 7 and the defeat of Waterford 16 to 12.
