Sud was named to All-Valley and All- State honorable mention squads. The 1949-50 Trojan basketball season was. to be sure, the most interesting one in recent Owosso rage history. It brought a greater variety of thrills and disappointments to the fans and students of Owosso than ever before: for, out of the sixteen games, eight were de- cided by two buckets or less-a far cry from past years. Highly rated at the beginning of the year, the Trojans stumbled to four straight losses to East Lansing 453-493. Pontiac 434-372. Flint Northern 459-463, and Bay City 453-371. It looked like another of those Cellar City Owosso fives. with only big Owen Sudman scoring consistently enough to produce a winner, However. after a long vacation rest. the boys came back with a narrow 45-44 triumph over Flint Central. newly-crowned Motor City Tournament Champs. and a big 53-50 upset of highly-regarded Sag- inaw Arthur Hill. Three big victories over Flint Central 462-511, Midland 443-402. and Flint Northern 444-405, made up for losses to the Sag- inaw schools-Arthur Hill 468-462, and Saginaw 458-481. All in all, the final Trojan record of five wins and eleven defeats isn't very outstanding as records go.
