4 A custom neglected since grandmothers day has again been renewed until today thousands of people are expressing their thoughts and impressions in small, leather bound volumes. Yes, diaries are back again! We of the Spic staff happened upon such a volume belonging to one of our freshmen, and, having that characteristic of all true journalists, curiosity, we read that book. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to share it with you and have complemented her events with pictures taken by our Camera Club. In this way we have a complete and vivid picture of the school years as seen through her eyes and so described in her own breezy style. Whose diary is it? That is our secret. She may be the girl who sits next to you in the assemblies or the cafeteria, your sister, or girl friend. Let us say she is a typical high school girl-this is the highest compliment we can pay her. Let's read the diary together! 2 Foreword and Contents. . . , 3 Dedication .,......,..., 4 Appreciation .. 5 Faculty ...... . . 7 Seniors ...... . , 15 Undergrads . . . . . . 33 School Life . ,. ... 51 Activities . . . , , 63 Sports ......,... . . . 91 Advertisements .... . . .109 'E weed ' Big s ' I A 'L i t s

Mr. Howard Shcmafelt Dear Diary: These pictures all through this year book certainly represent lots of work. I'm glad the group decided to give Mr. Bates recognition for the time he spent on them. For his advice and untiring efforts, the staff extends its appreciation and thanks. Good going. 4 .Z- Dear Diary: It must take plenty of patience to guide a senior class through school! Tl'1at's pro- bably why this year's seniors expressed their appreciation to Mr. Howard Shana- felt, their adviser. His guidance, thought- fulness, and Willingness to help at all times carried the class of '48 through many tough spots. Bet he's glad it's all overl Mr. Russel Bates
