CLASS lllS'l'0llY In the fall of 1951 a crew of seventy-two frightened but hopeful boys and girls boarded the ship for the first year of a four year voyage. Mr. Brixey, also a new member of the ship's crew, was chosen as cap- tain and Mrs. Sneed acted as first mate. The crew elected Jim Fisher as President, Glenn Warren as Vice-President, and Fred Pogue as Secretary-Treasurer. We were welcomed aboard with the never-for- gotten initiation party and also enjoyed two other class parties. Our boys made up a large portion of the ship's 'B' basketball team and our voices mingled with the glee clubs and other mixed singing groups. We selected Pat Brinkmann as candidate for basketball queen and were proud when she was crowned--the first freshman queen OHS had ever known. The second year of our journey we were treated with more respect from the upper class seamen. The big highlight of this year was initi- ating the freshman members of the ship's crew. Our officers were Dale Heidel, Beverly Shockley, and Lorene Bartel. Mr. Brixey was again chosen to the post as captain with Miss Wilson as his very help- ful first mate. This time we selected Carol Eichler as our candidate for basketball queen. The big event was the completion of the new ship to which we transferred in January. As we entered the third year of our cruise we found our crew be- coming more and more active in sports, music, and on the staff of our school paper. Margine Mallory was elected President, Bob Zeitzmann acted as Vice-President, and Carol,White was Secretary-Treasurer until she moved and then Pat Brinkmann took her place. Mr. Brown was unanimously chosen as the crew's new captain and Miss Wilson once again accepted the post as first mate. Our candidate for basketball queen was Sharon Weiskopf. The highlight of this year was the square dance we gave the seniors, an event long remembered by all those who attended. The majority of our crew pitched in willingly to make the junior play, You're Only Young Once, a big success. The money we made went into our treasury for our senior trip. Fifty-nine of the original seventy-two crew members faced the fourth and final year of our voyage. We contributed six boys to the 'A' basketball team and we made up a large part of other sports and activities. Prof. Spurgeon and Miss Schaeperkoetter acted as our captain and first mate. A very able Bob McCammon served as President, Bob Zeitzmann as Vice- President, and Pat Brinkmann as Secretary-Treasurer. Lillian Heyer was our candidate for the OHS basketball queen. Our very deserving valedictorian was Pat Brinkmann with Grace Ebker as the Salutatorian. We chose alice and opal blue as our colors with an ice blue carnations as ourclass flower. We all strained forward to attain the necessary funds for our senior trip. Our money making projects were a senior play, chili supper, chicken pie supper, and many bake and candy sales. We also had some yearbook profit, thanks to the skillful editing of Bill Knehans with Bob McCammon as his assistant. For the class motto we chose Today we launch--where shall we anchor ? Z0
