THIRD ROW: Eleanor Duda, Carol Alford, Phyllis Howell, Marion Fabry, Loretta Fore, Marlene Bellhorng Coach, Mrs. James Partin. The girls came through with flying colors this year, winning nine and losing none. Their high team spirit and fine teamwork account for their victories. Captain Mary Ann Slayton was high point for the season with 212 points. The season is over except for an exhibition game with Bunnell at the boys' district tournament. Our starting line-up was: Mary Ann, Katherine, Marian, Iunie, Sandra and Pat. FIRST ROW: Joseph Duda, Paul Smith, Freddie Alford, Mike Duda, Walace Kelsey, Ronnie Willis. SECOND ROW: Tommie Bryant, Manager, Jonny Tesinsky. lack Briggs Jimmy Brookshire, Coach Mikler. The 1959 quintet is one of the most aggressive teams we ever had. Our greatest weakness is lack of height. The tallest man on the team is only six feet tall. The turning point of the season was our great victory over Titusville. Since that victory the team began playing inspired ball. We upset the highly touted Mt. Dora Bible School twice by unbelievable scores. The season's climax came when we avenged a 57-52 loss to Sanford by trouncing them 67-54. As we go to press we have two games remaining on our schedule. Our record is now 14-6. Our top performers are captain Mike Duda at center, Jimmy Brookshire, Johnny Tesinsky and Freddie Alford at forward, Joseph Duda, Wallace Kelsey and Paul Smith at guard. Ronnie Willis, Jack Briggs, Roy Wainwright, and Jerry Arndt make up the rest of our varsity squad. Our high scorers are Mike Duda and Jimmy Brookshire. For the first time in our history we have gone to the full court press defense. This style of play has paid off, for our great victory over Sanford may be directly attrib- uted to the press. We hope to use it effectively in the tournaments. FRONT ROW: Kenneth Sparks, Jerry Ulrey, Benne wainwrighr, Jerry Arndt, Johnny Courier, Wes Evans.
