:Rec orc! riireafi 6529 Jffa sorz or WE Tim Doyen, just a sophomore at O-E, broke Keith Ne lson's old high jump record with a jump of 6 ft. 2 in. M6 3:6616 Ed 772 The O-E Track team finished 4th in the league with a 3-3 win-loss record and an overall dual meet rec- ord of 9-3. They were 2nd at the annual O-E Invita- tional behind Alma. Also a strong 2nd in the Clinton County meet behind front runner Bath they were 5th at Regionals and 8th at the Tecumseh Relays. There were five guys who qualified for state competition. Ted Geiger qualified for the hurdles but didn't place even though he broke the school record that he had previously set. Tim Doyen tied 9th in tl1e high jump with 5 Hz. 11 in. And the mile relay team of Mark Smith, Brett Welton, Doug Long and Ted Geiger placed 12th with a time of 3 minutes 29 seconds which is a new school record. Back Row: J. McAninch, B. Welton, C. Heading in the Right Direction The O-E swim team put forth a lot of hard work and effort and have steadily improved throughout the year. They ran into some stiff competition this year so they didn't do as well as they had expected to. Next year their experience should begin to bloom out into the open because they are only losing two letter winners. With added experience, next year they should be able to pool their talents, and surface with a winning season.
