A good, solid season with considerable promise for the future describes the 1974 O-E Track team. Highlights of the season included a surpris- ingly strong 2nd place finish in the league meet. O-E went into the meet in 5th place but because of the 2nd place finish, came out tied for 3rd with Swan Valley over all. New records were also established: the mile relay team of Smith, Coon, Baese, and Geig- er ran a very respectable 3:29.55 Ted Geiger broke the old high hurdle record with a 15.25 Dave Hines broke the mile record in a good time of 4:39.2 and Kirk Baese tied Rick Grusbeck's 880time of 2:01.6. . e 9 The Varsity Baseball Team finished the season with an overall 8-8 wonfloss record and a 7-5 conference mark. The latter was good for sec- ond place inthe Mid-Michigan B race. With a .500 batting average, it's no great mys- tery why Tim Bolton was chosen Most Valuable Player and Best Hitter by his teammates. Best Pitcher went to Mark Hudacek with a 6-3 winfloss record and an astounding 1.72 ERA. lack Cook deservedly captured this year's Most Improved Player award and joe Tesarik was voted Most Inspirational. The word for this year is watch out for tomorrow -these play- ers will be back next season. 121
