Sixteen of these years, from 1940-1956, were spent at OCS and seventeen years were spent at various rural schools. You retired in 1956 at the end of the school term in June. While you were teaching, you brought guidance and friendship to all of your students and everyone in school. Your cheerfulsmile and friendly Good Moming or Hi was given abundantly to every person. It is with great pride and sincerity that the class of 1957 dedicates this volume of the Ovidian to you, as our way of saying, thank you for a service well rendered. 2 YE RBOCK S AFF SITTING: F. I enter the Golden Buckeroo I see Mary Rice as hostess, her gift of gab has also made her a well known teacher of nursing, and-ah-such. As I sit at my appointed place I see an lmfamiliar figure approaching, why it's Nancy Hatch. Myl There is a slight difference in the figure Fat Lady. My here comes that great Broadway actress Patty Diving. When she was in school, her real name was Pat Griffin. Ah, but you know these Broadway stars. Why here comes a group of men, I think. Let's see. Why, that's James O'Hora, the big car salesman. Iguess hehad to start selling cars to keep himself supplied and who is this approaching? Why, none other than Mike Depew the well known Las Vegas gmbler, better known as Slippery Depew with sideburns. lsn't that big Mike Bush? He looks distinguished. He just bought another grocery store now he owns so many that it's like having a new baby every week. We have another familiar face. It's Dave Wilsonon vacation from his mathematical duties. Professor, what is the lesson for today? Isn't that William Murphy? Remember? He was the polite boy in English Class. He is a Marine sergeant now, teaching classes in culture. Don't look now but here comes the master mind in chemical engineering. I'm speaking, of course, of William Halsey. Who is that distinguished looking state trooper? It's Don Paro. Ihear he gives out so many tickets a week the motorists just stop and pay hint Here comes bouncing Beverly Kirme, the springy gym teacher. More bounce to the oumce, Bev. There's Barbara Wilen and Pat Alger. Do you know that they're the highest paid baby sitters in New York Stateg in fact they head the Baby Sitters Union. Here comes another familiar face. It's Nancy Covert. She's the waitress with the get up and go. Be careful of that banana split. Myl Myl Look at the girl in the bathing suit and water skis. It's Phyllis McIntosh. She is now the star of Aqua.rium Ocean Show. There's Laura Schultz. She is well known as Presidatt of the Elvis Presley Fan Club. She is also his personal secretary. Watchout, Elvis, here she comes! who is this approachng? Why it's that svelte Rita Xavier, well known critic of the arts. Which art I'm not quite sure. Here comes that lean Slim fhandsome brutey better known as Richard Rabinowitz G11 But we couldn't mistake his identity with that easel and smock. Look it's Elmer Martz and Harry Hayes stepping out of their big, new, shiny, Cadillacs. Maybe we should look into this prosperous farming business. Hayts Corners is really booming now. Yes, it's Tommy Jones. His variety store really put the place on the map. Whois this coming with his face all grease? It's Mike Hernon. His head has been under the hood again and the cops are on his tail. Why, look who's coming. It's Martha Ott. My, but she is abusy little girl. She is president of the F.H.A. - The Federal Housing Administra- tion, that is. Say, isn't that G1adysVaughn?She certainly has gone out of this world. She is now head stewardess on the rocket Moon. Get a load of that! It's Joseph Sincebaugh. He's famous, You must have heard of Sincey's Whiskey. .T0e's own special recipe. Who is that distinguished looking woman? Didn't Ihear some- one say she is the author of Negligees in the Breeze? Then that's Elizabeth Wilen. Who are these two characters coming in the door? Boyl Have we got it in for them. CHal Hal We planned their futures.D Betty Steen, Ruth Woods. 13 CLASS WILL We the Senior Class of '57 being more outstanding in intelligence, and having more generosity than previous classes. do hereby bequeath the following to the Class of '58, who needed more than we. To the faculty we leave our sincere regrets that such a class as ours, perfect in every way, must leave these familiar portals for greater fame. To the Junior class as awholewe leave our outstanding ability. We challenge you to carry on in 1957 and 1958 as we did in 1956 and 1957. Rita Xavier leaves nothingg she's taking it all with her. Jim O'Hora leaves his driving skill to Bob Voohrees. Elmer Martz leaves his gift of gab to Dorma De Graw. Algebra knowledge and confidence to Peggy Personius. Richard Rabinowtz leaves his automotive designing to Harold Hawkins. Nancy Covert and Don Paro leave nothingg they're just leaving with each other. The best of luck to you. Betty Steen leaves her earring collection to Doralee Langley and her walk to Barbara Cole. Bill Halsey leaves the road to Canogo toJ ay Dann, Bill doesn't need it anymore, do you Jay? Joe Sincebaugh and Bill Murphy leave their way with Miss Edds to the wholeJunior class. To Joyce J orden we leave Tex Hernon, You can have him Joyce. Mike Depew leaves the open trail to Romulus and Geneva to Jim McGuire. Ho-Ho Steve- O, did we slip- To Sandra Brown we leave nothingg she has too much already. Pat Griffin leaves her French ability to Joan Miller. To Sally Cool, Bev Kinne leaves her pep and school spirit, Carry on - let's keep it up. Nancy Hatch leaves her cheerful agreeable way to Carol Van Vleet. Harry Hayes leaves his wild nights to Dick Compton. Mike Bush leaves his live life to Flora Bailey. Mary Rice leaves her eternal smile to Loretta Van Riper. Dave Wilson leaves his dancing ability to Elizabeth Wilen. The Seniors hate to leave Mrs. Depew, we want to take her with us. But realizing we can't, we leave this wonderful mother of ours to the lucky class who will be fortunate enough to be getting Mrs. Depew, who will be guiding them right through to the .TOP like she did the class of 1957. 14' 'fm f 1 w S A .nxxg lg 3 I S xf1Y1l5 ffi5 'S HN' Q' 33 W 5 In V' 44 'Q . i ' K Q i 4 M . , if 'I ' 1 gg?
