545' OUR short years ago, the Class of '48 began its Freshman year in room 207 with Miss Mannix as its advisor. After vainly trying to crowd fifty-nlne of us into a room with a seating capacity of forty, it was decided to send the excess number to the library where they would be under the super- vision of Miss Cloos, the librarian. We were classified as 9A and 9B. Each homeroom elected its own class officers and they were as follows: 9A-President ----- Paul Mullan 9B-President ----------- Richard Steele Vice-President-John Maleskl Vice-President ------ T eresa Kaiser Secretary ------ Edwin Smith Secretary-Treasurer-Norma Swick Treasurer ----- Ruth VanVleet Student Council Representatives--Dorothy Miller Kathleen Stahl Ross Laughlin Arthur Lynch On March 16th we .meld a vlc dance in the school auditorium in order to raise money for the year- book. It was a financial success. We closed our Freshman year with a Junior High Commencement which was a big event in our lives. The honors were taken as follows: Valedlctorlan-Ruth VanVleet, Salutatorian-Edwin Smith, Third Honor-June Russell, Fourth Honor-Joan Murphy. In September, 1945 we entered Senior High as forty-eight mild, meek Sophomores. We elected the following class officers: President ----------- William Schramm Vice-President ----- Norma Swick Secretary-Treasurer-Richard Roach Betty Putnam and Howard Lincoln were chosen to be the Sophomore representatives to the Student Council. In January the Sophomore class was very patriotic and did its part in the overseas clothing drive held at the school. We started our Junior year on September 3, 1946 with fifty-nine members. Our class officers were: President ---------- John Maleski Vice-President ------ Teresa Kaiser Secretary-Treasurer-June Russell Olga Sabol and Herbert McCutcheon were our representatives to the Student Council. November 4, 1946 was a very happy day for the Juniors--we ordered our Senior rings. March 11, 1947 was even a happier day for us, for on that day we received our rings. Our activities of the year began with a Halloween Party. The Community Recreation Committee helped us to make it a community affair and hired Bob Llnton's orchestra for the occasion. While dancing was going on ln the auditorium, various games were played in different rooms. Our Junior Prom was held on March 14, 1947 and was a success. Then in Junewe sponsored the Senior Ball. 16
