editor’s comment In any major undertaking, be it an athletic contest, academic competition, or the creation of a high school yearbook, there is a certain objective which each person or group seeks to obtain. That objective is to be the best; to do the very best job possible. From the early days of September until dis- tr ibution of each student’s annual in May, we of the 1974 OVERTOUR staff have been striving to meet our objectives. The time and talent con- tributed by each member was done so knowing that the cause was worthwhile. The experiences received in return for our efforts will be forever invaluable. It is a rewarding feeling to feel that you have done your best, and to feel that your best is very good, if not the best. As editor I have come to know and appreciate all the factors involved in producing such a book as this. To credit one person for the making of the 1974 OVERTOUR would be an injustice to all those who helped create it. Yet, one particu- lar person did provide the spark that kept the fire burning. Carolyn Read Pickering, as the OVERTOUR advisor, gave the impetus that made the 1974 OVERTOUR what it now is. Her constant pushing of the yearbook’s production, and the excellent printing and cooperation of Benson Printing Company, Inc., have made this year’s book exceptional. A great vote of appre- ciation is due each. The school year 1973-1974, like all other years, has been a unique one. The 1974 OVERTOUR, like the past nine months, is also unique. It is not different to be different; it is different be- cause each year is different. It is our wish that this book will communicate—not only to each student—but to all who read it, those things that -made this year a significant part of our lives— past, present, and future. Editor-in-Chief
