Bands Sweepstakes is Grand Finale During the winter months, Overton students kept very busy with a large selection of activities. The band was especially busy preparing for their con- test on March 11, where they brought home the covered Sweepstakes trophy. Bur there were also other activities like the Soeech Club Christmas Party, the Library Club’s Val-o-gram sale and the band’s Chicken and Dressing Dinner. These activi- ties helped pass the cold winter months!! 1. The cake says it all: OHS BAND S WEEPSTAKES WINNER! 2. Gary Clark and Robbi Young find gag gifts amusing at the Speech Club Christmas Party. 3. Proud band members gather around the cake thar represents their hours of hard work and dedication. 4. Melin- da Gipson’s artistic ability is displayed on the bulletin board she decorated for the Library Club's Valentine Sale. 5. Billy Spencer and Grover Trammel clean-up after the Band's Chicken Dress- ing Dinner. 6. Sonja Smith and Felicia Rinehart count the money made from the dinner. 7. Mrs. Roberson’s black board is a remind- er fo all Seniors of their fund-raising activities. 8. Sonja Smith, Periann Allen, Vicki Graham, Cheryl Elliott and Diana O'Neal are all smiles after the band won Sweepstakes. 9. Yvonne Speaks, Lynda Ragsdale, Yvonne Mitcham, Sandra Sanders, Melinda Gipson, and Missy Williamson prepare to deliver Val- o-grams. 10. Jackie Garland and Sandra Sanders deliver an anonymous Val-o-gram to Mrs. Daniels. 41. Rhonda McMillan, Debbie Findley, and Wendy Mondier listen to a replay of their winning concert performance. 12. Diana O’Neal and Leanne Austin dress up like Christmas for the Speech Christmas Party. 13. John Glover watches as his sister sneaks a bite of cake before she “cleans her plare’’ ar the Band's Chicken Dressing Dinner. Holiday Season Busily Spent Twinkling lights, parties, and hopes of Santa alll characterize Christmas. Overton students were caught up: in the- Christmas spirit as well. We attended parties, decorated doors, planned for Santa’s arrival, and participated in Overton's Christmas parade. 1. Robbi Young performs a reading selection at the Garden Club's Christmas Program. 2. Sixth graders: Phillip Cox, Stephen Rhodes, and Jim Pitts judge the High School Door Decorating Contest. 3. Margaret Montgomery, Mrs. Gardner, Rexann Grandstaff, Becky Mallette, Shari Turner, Donanne Skeen, Kim Furqueron, and Leslie Pitts seem to have caughr the holiday spirit. 4. David Spencer helps Mrs. Bunch and Mrs. Daniels pass our the presents. 5. Delisa Wright, Christina Van- over, Chris Merritt enjoy their party. 6. Kristy Stallings proudly shows the prize she won by “pinning the nose on Santa. 7. Junior high cheerleaders wave to the townspeople. 8. Charlie and Geno Brager “eye” the others present. 9. Jackie Garland admires the winning door, decorated by Mrs. Green's eighth grade English class. 10. High school cheerleaders parade through the streets of Overton. 14. Rochelle Brazier, Amy McLane, Jeremy McMillan, and Mrs. James stand by their nicely decorar- ed tree. 12. Mrs. Bunch holds Jena Moffet’s perfume under her nose so thar she can smell the fragerance. 13. Mrs. Wright and some of her students admire the gifts. 14.
