COUNCIL The Overton High School Student Council is composed of repre- sentatives from each class and organization throughout the school. The Student Council sponsors many activities in the school with the purpose of promoting better relations between the students and faculty. The projects of the Student Council are designed to improve the school and benefit the students. Its first activity of the year, a Back To School Social, followed by Howdy Week, provided ample oppor- tunities for meeting new and old friends. In order to acquaint the students with the values of courtesy, a courtesy king and queen of the month were elected several times during the year. The annual Harvest Festival, the Student Council's main money- inaking project, was presented quite successfully in November. The Student Council sponsored the March of Dimes drive in the Overton School. In promoting this noteworthy drive, this organization contributed seventy-five dollars to help fight polio. Delegates from the .Student Council attended the State Convention of Student Councils which was held in Galveston.
