Even rhough ir is a young ream, rhey are hungry and ex- cired wirh good slsills, and I feel rhar we will fie our lasr year's record of 11 and 3, if nor go farther, said Brown. His long rerm goal was ro mal-ze if ro srare playoffs, During rhe preseason rhey played some scrimmages ro ger acrual game experience wirhour rhe worry of win-loss records. One scrimmage was againsr Columbine on March 11 on a blusrery, cold day or Srurler Bowl. Despite rhe loss in this scrimmage, ream members had confidence in their chances ro do well in rhe league. Soph. Sabrina Smith said, I rhinls we'II be able ro malse ir ro srare. We mighr nor win, buf we'II OT leasr be able ro malse ir ro fin- als. During rhe opening weelss of rhe season, rhree varsiry play- ers were srill involved in rhe bas- lserboll playoffs, causing some changes berween rhe varsiry andjunior varsiry reams. The JV reom also scrimmaged in rhe early season, bearing Colum- bine's JV ream on March 11, if The besr rhing abour rhe ream is rhar rhere are no cliaues. Ev- erybody worlss rogerher, and rhey're always nice ro each orher, said Soph. Dana Mur- PhY- Because of rhe populariry of rhe sporr, curs were made ar all levels, including rhe sophomore and freshmen reams. In oddi- rion an inrramural ream was formed ro occommodare even more girls wishing ro play and prepare for a spor on one of rhe reams in rhe furure. Cooperarion was a Isey on all levels. Veteran players on varsi- ry helped rhe newer players ro learn. Bur ir's harder for rhe newer players because rhe older ones have played rogerh- er and are used ro each orher, Ir's hard for everyone ro ad- jusr, said Sabrina. Wherher a player was on varsiry or one of rhe orher reams, goals re- mained consisrenr. Soph. Brandi Bell said, Whar I really wanr ro accomplish is ro worls as a whole and win as many games rogerher as possible.
