The team took a lot of people by surprise in getting as far as they did in the playoffs. Missing the state championships by only two games, the Blazers had a great season. nl think that part of the reason why we did so well was because we worked together as a team instead of individually, said Sr. Tom Freeman, defensive back. The season had many high points. One particularly outstanding game was the first playoff game against Green Mountain High School. Despite the below freezing weather, many fans turned up to cheer the team on to victory, and the Blazers won the game. Unfortunately, the Blazers last to Thomas Jefferson in the second playoff game. The fans seemed to be very support- ive of the players. Parents did many ex- tra things for the team, such as preparing special dinners for them. Other fans showed their support by cheering the players on at the games, hanging up signs, and meeting the players back at the school to congratulate them. Even when temperatures dropped below freezing, it still didn't stop the fans. They showed up with sleeping bags, quilts, and thermosesto keep warm. Jr. Dave Reeb said, it really gives me a feeiing of confi- dence to look up at the srands and see everyone cheering us on. The football team ended their season with a record of 10-2. Other sports also did very well in the playoffs. The girls' varsity volleyball placed third at state. Swim team members Jr. Louise McAdams, Sr. Tracey Loftis, Soph. Kristina Roser, and Sr. Heidi Teske also went to state, as weil as gymnastics team members Jr. Stacey Todd and Soph. Anallsa Kantor. The entire girls' cross country team as well as Sr. Tim Oakes also went to state. I 5 oo Sports .off C 4- si f' trims.-v-sn .
