As for rhe players rhem- selves, they lilsed rhe idea of being rold srraighr and ro rhe poinr. And rhar was all rhe en- couragement rhey needed ro conrinue ro go on ro vvin five of rheir lasr six regular season games. I feel rhar determina- rion and dedication were rhe foundarions of our ream. Thar is why we performed so well, said Soph. Jade Buie. Although team dedication vvas impor- ranr, a more personal dedica- rion was also sought. Players were encouraged ro excell indi- vidually as well as ro help earn ream vicrories, The sophomores ended vvirh a 9-5 regular season record. They also vvenr undefeated ar an end of rhe season tourna- menr when they svvepr five srraighr games from their league opponents. The JV team used irs losses as learning experences and rheir vvins ro boosr their spirits. Most of rhe vicrories came against rough reams, which showed rhar rhe JV's would soon be ready ro meer rhe srandords ser by rhe varsiry ream. Although rhe JV ream vvasn'r auire as ex- plosive as rhe sophomores, they finished vvirh a 9-4 regular season and a 2-3 record in rhe rournamenr. Even rhe rvvo freshman reams vveren'r loolxing bad ar rhe end of their regular season when they managed ro picls up rhe pace ro finish vvirh near idenrical records as rhe fresh- man A team finished ar 5-5 and rhe B ream finished or o-4. Borh recorded 2-8 records in rhe sea- son-ending rournamenr. Courtnee Calvert was rhe Freshman Mosr Valuable Play- er. Frosh. Tanya Pacheco, Jenny Dittman, Tracey Co- burn, and Soph, Jill Gebhart all received Mosr Valuable Players awards for their oursranding ef- forrs in rhe tournament on rhe sophomore ream, and Soph. Pam Morgan was rhe JV vvin- ner of rhe award. Soph. Amber Laiminger won rhe Leadership award for her exceptional per- formances on rhe JV team. The Sophomore Leadership award vvenr ro Amy Sargent.
