The crowd wanted ro win al- most more rhan rhe ream, said Jr. Stacy Redmond. Varsi- ry player Jr. Marci Reitz said, lr was an imporranr game, and we lsnew lr. We had ro ploy rough because we lsnew Evergreen was no pushoverf' Afrer playing three games, in which Overland won rhe first and Evergreen rhe second, the match ended with the score 14- lo, in Evergreen's favor. We had great team unity, and a competitive drive rhar helped us do well rhis year, said volleyball coach Kris Nolen. This competitive drive tools the ream all rhe way ro stare. All rhe personalities on rhe ream got along really well, We al- ways had fun together, said Sr. Tami Lynch. Marci sold, When you have so much re- spect for your coach and ream members, ir pushes you to do better. Anorher reason rhe ream did so well was because of rhe crowd support, Jr. Anjali Budhiraja said, 'lYou could feel rhe support. lr helped us play berrer when we lsnew our fans were behind us. The crowds were largely made up of par- ents, younger volleyball ream members, and football players. The team enrered the district playoffs as one of rhe favorires ro win rhe district championship. After achieving rhis goal and advancing ro the srare playoffs, rhey bear Widefield in their first game. The following day they played Evergreen, and al- rhough rhey played a challeng- ing march, Evergreen won, Overland went on ro play Po- mona and false rhird in rhe AA division, Four players made All Conference. Honorable Men- tion was Sr. Dana Knight, sec- ond ream was Sr. Amber An- drews, and first ream piclss were Jrs. Marci Reitz, the feam's Leadership winner, and Jami Long, who was also cho- sen rhe ream's Most Valuable Player. The All City ream, made up of six players, fools three from Overland-Marci, Jami, and Amber. Amber was also nominared for rhe All Stare ream.
