xx ' V s QOC9 es of? xo wa Did you see . . , Yeah, can you believe . , . No , . . whar happened? Those were some of the reactions ro a new face on the security staff. Former lsirchen helper Helen De- Coma had moved our of the lsirchen and inro the halls. Ar firsr, many srudenrs were surprised ro see her roaming. I wondered what she was doing ourside of the kitchen, said Jr. LeeAnne Paint- er. Evenrually, the srudenfs got used to seeing her as a security guard and accepred her au- rhoriry. Students from last year remembered De- Coma from their trips through the lunch line. Jr. Kelly Skutvlkjolsed, l was intimidated when I saw her. l rhoughr she was maybe going ro hir me with her spatula, Freshmen, who never saw her as a lunch lady, did nor question her authority, As Fr. Mike Mattingly pur ir, I re- specr her as a security guard, DeComa could frequently be found upstairs, lseeping the halls free of rroublemalsers. Teach- ers appreciared the auier halls and also appreci- ared not having their classes disrupted by unruly studenrs in the halls. Some students, however, felt that while she was doing herjob, somerimes her orders were unnecessary. She tells people ro get our of rhe halls when rhey're nor doing anything wrong, just going to their loclser ro ger something, said Jr. Michelle Sturgeon. Mike said, I guess she's jusr doing her job. Helen DeComa became a familiar sighr in the halls. Once an adjustment was made, stu- denrs had no problem seeing her as a security guard, Copy llearher Reddy l.ayoui Leisl Duclx Kim Goodwin Virginia Gorsevslsi Brian Gowen Sarah Graham Jeffery Granone Lana Gray Richard Green Erich Gregg Michelle Griffin Kelli Grissom Sranley Griswold Kristina Gugoff Jason Hammond James Hanna Maris Hansen Lisa Hardin Deanna Hardy Kevin Harris David Harrison Lisa House Jeanna Henclriclsson Andrea Hess Dustin Hiclsox Parricls Hilber Cynrhia Hill Krista Hoeppner Alisa Hoeschele Bryon Hoff Michael Hoffman Brian Holloman Kevin Hair Ladonna Hoaren Julie Hoplsins Maria Housley Q45 D60 XQWGMCYJQ5 if X sg i WK gy M iii C.
