Such a cry resounded through the halls whenever an annoying fresh- man was sighted. Yet students who had been freshmen the year before excited no interest. The year between freshman and junior made quite a difference. All sophomores were pleased to be through with their freshman year and the hassles that accompanied it. lt's a relief not to be a fresh- man anymore, said Soph. Amy Lambert. Sophomores erjoyed the respect they got from upperclassmen as non-freshmen. You don't get put down as much when you're a sopho- more, stated Soph. Elean Cummings. The uppetclassmen treat you differently when you are not a freshman anymore, agreed Soph. Eric Haney. Some sophomores viewed the sophomore year differently after their freshmen year. Last year I saw the sophomores as upperclassmen, with the juniors and seniors, said Elean. This year l see them as in the middle above fresh- men but below upperclassmenf' Soph. Scott Smeester added, I think that we are not up- perclassmen, not Iowerclassmen, just there. Many sophomores were loolsing forward to be- ing upperclassmen instead of just being in the middle. Their reasons ranged from being one year closer to graduation to being able to play a varsity sport, Members of other classes had their own opin- ions of the sophomores, As Jr. Sarah Severson said, Sophomores are glad they are not fresh- men anymore, so they start talsing advantage of their ranlsf' Fr. Lisa Hardin said, Sopho- mores thinls they're upperclassmenf' Observ- ing a lacls of unity in the sophomore class, Fr. Sara Struckman stated, They are not a class, they are just a group of people. Fr. Baye Taylor declared, Sophomores are boring, No matter what a person thought about the sophomores, the sophomore class was still here, waiting for their turn to be the big shots and surviving their time in the middle. lswasniewslsi-Mraz 18 5
