During the four yeors in high school, the closs of '86 grew from scored little lsids into moture odults, When the closs of '86 come in os freshmen they thought they were sweet, They were no longer in middle school - they were in HIGH SCHOOL! We thought we were pretty owe- some, soid Sr. Derek Weingort. They were olso the lowest of the low. The first officiol Homecoming occurred when they were freshmen. Lord ond Lody were Ke- vin Leiker ond Colleen O'Brien. Overlond hodjust opened for its fifth yeor, It wos growing ond chonging - just os they were, Three populor foll sports were footboll, soc- cer, ond volleyboll, The freshmon footboll teom hod o record of 4-4. Freshmon boys' soccer hod o 2-8 record. Volleyboll hod o 7-8 record. As they moved on to being sophomores we olso moved into the Volley. People tollsed in terms of totolly tubulor ond gog me. My sophomore yeor wos, lilse, so totolly tubulor to the mox, soid Sr. Suzonne Feist. Preppie wos the big dress croze. Homecoming royolty were Dulse ond Duch- ess Jeff Connon ond Kirsten Weidemueller. The sophomore footboll teom improved its record to 8-2, ond the boys' soccer teom jumped to o 10-8 record. Girls' volleyboll ended their seoson or 8-2. As the closs of '86 become upperclossmen, they storted to oct like they were o true port of whor hoppened ot school. Thejuniors put on Prom for the seniors ot the Brown Poloce Hotel in downtown Denver. The theme wos All Night Long, tolsen from Lionel Psichie's hit song. Yuppies, young urbon professionols, become o port of life os did cool ond dude, Lost yeor wos cool becouse we were included in senior porties, ond we weren't considered 'the little lslds' onymore, sold Sr. Dennis Winten. The big dressing croze wos to shop ot Volue Villoge ond the Goodwill or to dress Howoiion oll the time, Vorsity footboll increosed its record to 9-8 ond went to the ployoffs for the first time. Boys' soccer hod o rebuilding yeor with o record of 6- 4-2. Volleyboll increosed its record to 8-2, The best teom, however, wos girls gymnostics. They tools stote.ond brought home the school's first title. Homecoming royolty were Prince ond Prin- cess George Horrison ond Debbie Wilson. And then, finolly, they were SENIORSH Every- thing thot hod been strived for wos now here. The closs of '86 wos now the highest of the high! People moved into o new type of unity. Our closs is reolly close, soid Sr. Colleen O'Brien. Now, though, there seems to be o speciolness, too, she odded. Words Iilse hurtin ' ond hommered Co drinlsing phroseb were now used. The guys on the Creek footboll teom were hurtin' units ofter we beot them, soid Sr. Corlo Colvin. Trends were o little new wove, o little punls, ond of course the old 'jocl4' stereotype. Mostly, though, people weren't concerned with whor others thought, They hod leorned to trust their own ideos ond feelings. They hod grown up. Homecoming royolty were King Clorke Stroud ond Queen Somontho Rochboch. The Homecoming gome wos o greot disploy of rol- ent os the Blozers beot the Aropohoe Worriors, in October, for the first time on o Soturdoy ofter- noon. Vorsity footboll compiled o 10-2 record ond mode it to the second round of store ployoffs. Boys' soccer hod on excellent yeor, ending with o 10-8 record. They olso mode it to the store ployoffs, Vorsity volleyboll, with o 28-2 record, tools third in the store, The closs of '86 grew ond chonged in the four yeors in high school. They become closer ond more moture. They went through the good times, porties, friends, ond bod times to- gether with o style ond grode thot wos All Our Own.
