FRANK L. DONAHUE Superintendent To the members of the Class of 1960: For four years you have been working and striv- ing toward the goal of acquiring a high school education. When that goal is achieved in June of 1960 and you leave Overbrook to either enter into a chosen field of work or to pursue further your education program, you have before you, in a dif- ferent sort of way, as many opportunities as the graduates of years ago. To a degree there are new worlds to conquer as we contemplate the future exploration of space. There are new areas of our own world in the Ar- tic and Antartica to develop and explore. Perhaps more than any of these is the opportunity to help in the development of the most important factor today if civilization is to survive -M that of de- veloping better human relations with all peoples. Just as you have learned through your high school years to work together with other people of different races, creeds, and beliefs, it is our hope that you, with the thousands of other graduates of the other high schools in the country, may util- ize this ability in helping to develop a world in which all people can live, work and play together with proper tolerance and understanding of the individualities of other people. Only by achieving that goal can we be certain that civilization as you have known it can continue to exist. It is our hope that you young people will be able to take the initiative in helping to attain the goal of a peaceful and useful existence in the complex world of today. BOARD OF EDUCATION
