Mr and Mrs Tingle investigate third place winner. Boys Division Parficipafes in Science Fair Under the direction of Mrs. Curl, in- structor, the biology classes of Boys' divi- sion present a Science Fair. Winners cho- sen by selected faculty members are: First place, Comparative anatomy of birds, reptiles and mammals, Jim Hankins, Greg Ashe. Second place, circulatory system, Jim Paniszczyn. Third place, smoke tun- nel, Mike Heim. Honorable mention, Metamorphosis ofthe Butterfly, Taylor Maddux. Brother Leo S. M. and Sister Martin Joseph study first place winner. Mr. Paniszczyn stands by his son's exhibit, the second place win- ner, Mrs. Maddux and Mrs. Curl proudly display the former son's ex- hibit. 4I

On February 27th, the following students and faculty attended Bell Telephone Company's Science Recog- nition Night which honored outstanding high school science students in Tarrant County: Mrs. Tylaska, Karen Stormer, Robert Hopkins, Barbara Grewe, Dennis Bouldin, Kathy Maday, Alice Phillips, David Fuertsch, Brother James Droste, S, M. Science Acfivifies Vary Guest speakers, attendance at symposiums, special individual projects, and Science Fairs are in- cluded in student interest in sci- ence and mathematics. Bro. James Gray, S.M., of St, Bro. John Donohoo, S. M., of St. Mary's Mary's University, speaks to the mathematics students on November 9th, He discusses member systems, geometries, field axioms, and rapid graphing procedures. Kathy Horn, Faustine Farrell and Ioan Casper admire their project Felis Domesticus. 40 University, speaks to the biology class un- der the direction of Mrs. Curl. Felis Domesticus

The Veterans of War sponsor an annual essay con test on various phases of democracy. Court Louise of Catholic Daughters of America sponsor an annual contest of poetry with religious themes. School winners are: Division I: first place Pam Rohmer Rain in a Desertlandg second place, Susan Butler, Nightg third place, Bette Coleman, Right side up Cake. Division ll: first place, Linda Mills The Horn, second place, Phyliss Orr Out of this Worldg third place, Marty Gallagher 'Lhe Madonna.
