OLV Student Council In order to promote a cooperative Marian family spirit in the school, the Student Council exists and has for its aim to cooperate in school government for the purpose of upholding and furthering the spirit of Victory, spiritually, scholastically, and materially. In this studentgovernment program the students endeavor to develop a sense of Christian responsibility, to exercise a prudent initiative, to foster coop- eration between students and faculty and between the school and the parishes and to encourage a spirit of good citizenship. The Student Councils of both divisions worked together to plan and sponsor the school dances and were able to purchase a statue of our Blessed Mother for the school and lights to be used for future dances in the gym. The Boys' Student Council wrote the constitutions for the Student Council with the help of the upper- classmen from Laneri, organized vocation month seminars, sponsored October Rosary Devotions and Liv- ing Rosary as well as May devotions. The Boys' Council also appointed student monitors for assemblies, lunch periods and movements, ordered and sold the school jackets, played host to incoming freshmen during their registration and sponsored the first Victory Frosh Day, sponsored a booth at the Mardi Gras and worked hard to back all school activities especially the athletics. The Girls' Student Council sponsored all school dances and through the Home and School Associa- tion bought platforms for gym. It organized two assemblies: one to get the students acquainted with the various school organizations and a vocation skit Thank Heaven for Little Girls Assembly which summarized the development of a Christian woman. The Girls' Council also worked hard to back all school activities and sponsored a booth at the Mardi Gras as well as backing the sale of tickets for the affair. QPRA STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS , BOYS ' DIVISION Phil Luebbehusen, Car- ter Calongne, Mike McConnell, Sam Kur- tin, lim May, Jim Wurzbach.
