In an effort to in- P 1 sure the stability of her family life, she must help not only to hold back those currents which threaten the home but also to oppose those doctrines which undermine its foundation. ln Blanche of Castile, wife of Louis XIII of France, we find an admirable example ofa good mother. Upon the King's death, Queen Blanche was left regentand guardian of their seven children. She gave all possible care and attention to the education of her children, instilling into their souls the highest regard and awe for everything that pertained to religion, honor, and a particular love for chastity. ls it any won- der then that in the person of her eldest son, King Louis IX, were united the qualities which formed a great king!
