played together Whether it concerned basketball, football, tennis, track, baseball, dramatics, clubs, assemblies, pep rallies, dances, lunches or parties, we, the graduates of 1960, enjoyed being together. Togetherness in these projects imparted union and strength to each activity, mak- ing it synonomous with success. Instances like beating Orange High in January and nipping Immaculate a little later, the girls' basket- ball team's beating St. Vincent's Academy and thus being considered for the trophy, the track team's winning so many honors for the school, and the glorious success of South Pacific are some of the rewards of a class that enjoyed a friendly unity. uferked tegetlzer No senior of 1960 could ever forget those lengthy assignments in English, history, math, science, speech and religion. Yet here, too, we fouml working a pleasure as well as an asset. Although out of ten problems in Math IV only one or two actually had any solution, it was surprising how easy the work appeared when five or six heads began to analyze it. The history term paper found more than half the class in Newark library during the Christmas holidays, but the enjoyment we had going' to and from the library together actually made the work a pleasant distraction. As for the word study, it actually aided digestion at lunch periods. prayed together We prayed together not only before and after school, but also at the commencement of each class, at the quarters in each basketball games, in every football huddle, at the outset of each track meet, before we had the minutes of each club activity, and whenever a teacher announced a surprise test, Prayer is so much a part of each senior that it is always spontaneous when anything unusual is on the agenda. Since a hymn is a beautiful prayer the senior boys started each day with a hymn to Our Lady of the Valley. Each Wednesday as Knights and Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament, we attended mass. Each first Friday found the entire high school kneeling in adoration at the noonday mass. The retreat conferences and the religion classes supplemented our ordinary acts of love for God and His Mother.
