Hearts filled with hope and ecstasy wx NJ' GN X o ' fr .lrhanne fhierhi pre ents and explains the list of school VX Q Q -li activitie for the fre hmen In a brief summary ,Iohanne , x B advied the first year students to participate in extra- , curricular activities and thus broaden their education. j f Q .a sy Y Q' Q' J' 'N B., rf' Nl' A 0 U s C bas 'Ss b it t p e , 1' QV l ,gh t r if The day on which the freshmen are introduced to the spirit, traditions and individ- uality of Our Lady of the Valley High School is called VALLEY DAY. This year the seniors did a rnagnficent job in planning an enjoyable afternoon for both the freshmen and the entire student body. The opening number included ten talented senior girls dressed as Indians. They sang a clever song entitled TEN LITTLE SENIOR GIRLS. Johanne Chiechi explained the many activities and the clubs which function actively every month. She also urged every freshman to strive to be an active member of at least one of these activities. The rest of the program included a dance by the senior rockettes and many songs selected from previous operettas. The best talent of all was exhibited by the freshmen who were a trilie stubborn in performing the tasks suggested by the seniors. However, when Allen Carobrese insisted on the Marine push-ups, there was immediate obedience. Valley Day will remain with us seniors for some time, and we hope the freshmen have profited by their mistakes.

o thought of time . . . SPRING CAIVIIC A LITTLE LATE THIS YEAR could well have been the theme of our annual prom on Thursday, April tenth, but even the late snowfall could not dampen the festive spirits of the Class of 1959! SAYONARA was the choice of the juniors and of the seniors as a theme for this excitingly romantic evening. At eight oiclock the couples hegan to arrive at the famous Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit. All through the night they danced to the dreamy music of Ray Di Pietro and his orchestra amid the Japanese lanterns and soft lights. Finally, at twelve o'clock the dance floor slowly emptied and the dreamers hegan to wend their way toward home always to remem- ber the haunting strains of Sayonara.
