...toO.L.. Cheerleading is one of the extra-curricular activities at Our Lady of the Valley. The cheerleaders are composed of two squads, each having twelve girls and one substitute-the boys' varsity cheerleaders and the girls' varsity cheerleaders. After much practice, the cheerleaders for the boys appear at the games dressed in navy blue velvet one-piece uniforms with gold cuffs and collars. Th girls, varsity wear pink corduroy one-piece uniforms with cuffs and collar of pink candy-cane stripes. Both groups make a very effective appeal on the court. Whether the team wins or loses, the girls are ready to cheer for the next game with the same spirit that they showed in the previous game. At the end of the season, at the last game, and up to the last minute, they insist that whether we win or whether we lose, there is one slogan we will always use, and that is YEA! YEA! VALLEY. No wonder our girls' team soared to success this year. Susan Schesslcr fa four-year veteranl realizing that prayer can move mountains, spent many of the minutes before games fingering her heads and asking spiritual assistance for herself and her teammates. Mrs. Larkin, Coach, explains to ,loan Corley, Maddy Dvvore, Sandy Grosso, Pat O'Connor, Maureen Codey, Susan Schessler and Eileen Frivswyk how easy it is going to be to become thc permanent posscssor of the new trophy. ,- n in .ug 17: they X f' i 'ff S - If fl fs, r if I ,X
