Josephine Ryan types the names anrl atltlresses of former members of the sorlality. Assisting her from left to right are: Patricia Stumhrus, Patricia Kenyon, Mary Elaine Cicurella and Marianne Carlson. This group of girls are very active members and they enjoy everything attached to the sotlality. The soclalily of Our l.atly is an unique religious assocation with a devoted 1'everenee to its patroness, the Mother of Cod. 'l'his organization is.a group of religious-minded girls who want to he more than mediocre Catholics. llerotion to Mary acts as a guide to help them attain this goal. The soclality has a multiple purpose: not only the personal sancti- lication hut also the clcfense. promotion. anfl service of the Catholic Church. Socialists work strenuously and effectively in every field of Catholic Action. This is eviclcnl here in our own school where all the memlmers are active in many other cluhs anrl organizations which take a real interest in promoting school spirit. There is also each year a closed retreat which offers to every memher a chance to clo great things for Mary. The freshmen are introcluccml to the sodality and hecomc prohationers for one year. They look forwarfl to their reception which takes place in the latter part of their sophomore year. The juniors and seniors are real sodalists and may make a permanent act of consecration if they so desire. Honor and Ann Dllltldlft O O O L' i 5 e , , 4 , ' -. 'fx,j Q y c . 2 . Tl-lEREilS N0 ROYAL ROAD T0 KNOWLEDGE probably becomes the scholastic theme song of Our Lady of the Valley High School. Classes are conducted with the precision and regularity of the pendulum of the metronome. l Each class be it-algebra or Englishp history or typing: French or mechanical drawing must fit into the plan of the music. Each has its own rhythmic beat and its own musical score. As a musician in order to become great must sacrifice pleasure for practice, so ct Valleyite who obtains good grades must spend hours mastering the subiect matter of his curriculum if he wishes to earn honors. r
