Mosr Rsvrzmzno WAL'rsn A. Cunns Auxiliary Bishop of Newark Although the part played by our leaders, the Most Reverend Thomas A. Boland, the Most Reverend Martin W. Stanton, the Most Reverend Walter A. Curtis, and the Right Reverend Monsignor Lawlor is invisible, it is nevertheless a most im- portant one. Every activity sponsored by Our Lady of the Valley High School receives the cooperation and encouragement of these spiritual leaders who have shown their appreciation by urging us to become leaders for Christ. Our beloved Archbishop invites us to exert every effort to make Catholic youth a dynamic part of society. By establishing various societies like the Catholic Youth Organization, the Pre-Cana Conferences, and the Lay Apostolate Groups, Archbishop Boland has admitted that his faith in youth needs no bolstering and that he has complete confidence in us. Recently Archbishop Boland together with Bishop Stanton' and Bishop Curtis, inaugurated a' plan to increase the number of Catholic high schools in North Jersey. Our Lady of the Valley High School takes pleasure in welcoming and encouraging these brother and ,sister schools. Although this will entail lIlOl'C work for Right Reverend Monsignor Lawlor, we are very certain that his universal interest in Catholic education will continue to enable him to guide these new schools to a victorious and successful future. To these spiritual leaders, therefore, we, the Class of 1959, extend our sincere gratitude. May we never forget the example that they have given us. RIGHT REVEIIEND BIONSICNOR WILLIAM F. LAWLOR, s.r.n., rII.n. Superintendent of Schools -eau '81-I 1 , , ff' f ., , ' 1 'Sli V - aff ' 4 ,

GN Venr lievrgnewu lu0NSlGN0lt JouN J. Fnsu-:Y 60 dum? Three years ago, Our Lady of the Valley High School had an enrollment of hve hundred. Now the student body numbers well over six hundred. For the most part this increase is due to our pastor, the Very Reverend John Fc-eley. During his short time with us, Monsignor has solved a problem which because of the physical structure of the high school seemed to defy a solution. Formerly, only a limited number of high school applications could be considered. Realizing that many Calho- lic students who really had great possibilities were being denied admittance to our high school, Mon- signor began an intensified space campaign. Tak- ing an inventory of possible classroom availability, Monsignor succeeded in doing the impossible. Now as each class moves up a year, the prob- lem becomes more acute. However, we are certain that he will always be one step ahead of the problem. This year's graduating class has two reasons to congratulate Monsignor Feeley. 1959 marks the year of his appointment as pastor of Our Lady of the Valley, and it is also the year of Monsignoris silver jubilee. It-is with sincerest wishes that we congratulate you, Monsignor Fecley. S 55 ,iss
