John Hanlon is a good, all-around player on the team. However, he excels in pitching. Johnny also demonstrates the good sportsmanship that is so important on a team. What is this going to bee-a spinner?? Will he make it? If he doesntt, he surely tried. All the boys on the team worked long and hard for a successful season. They never gave up, even against the heaviest odds. Dave Reilly, one of our Senior sportsmen, displays his conhdence and ability in every game. He is an example of true Valley loyalty and fighting spirit. Is it coming soon, Dave?

Springtime in the Valley, as everywhere else, heralds the coming of baseball. Long before the first game begins you can hear the rhythm of spikes heading toward Metcalf Field. Here the boys spend many afternoons of rugged practice. This year there are six positions open since these places were vacated by last yearas graduates. Many seniors will be out there hoping to make the team. Our pitching and fielding are among the best in the area. Last yearis veterans will have cause to work hard so that they will make ,58 a season to be remembered as a banner season. Here are our smiling Valley baseball stars! Did you just win a game, boys? Everyone,s happy but the coach!!! These boys gave an exciting performance to the loyal baseball fans who supported the team whether the game was a win, a loss or a draw. Valley takes tlzc field Batter up! Joe Arnold is a 1958 star Knight. Besides having a high batting average, he is competent in every position on the diamond. That gleam in his eye shows that he is ready for anything.
