Baseball here at the Valley pro- vided the necessary relaxation and common ground on which all could meet and become acquainted. Whether the student actually was represented on his varsity team, or simply engaged in intramural competition, or merely cheered his more muscular and skilled mates, he is benefiting from sports. The mighty baseball nine played its schedule with fine results and wherever the batmen performed there also went a group of loyal male and female rooters who cheered lustily whether the Knights scored or not. Win or lose, it was a great year-great for the players who were excellent sports, great for the fans who sang HFightI Fight! Fight! for the home team with a loyalty that defies duplication. Here we see the members of last year's team posing with many of the sluggers of this year's team. Due to the lateness of the season, it is impossible to be able to get the candid shots of the current team.

,ee-L Khccrlmdcrs Mix enthusiasm, style, pep, ease, sparkle and good sportsmanship together, sprinkle with charm and refinement and you have the Cheerleaders of Our Lady of the Valley High School of 1957. Two teams were maintained this year because both the boys' and the girls' basketball schedule was quite elaborate. The boys' team, captained by Marilyn Cohrs, consisted of eight other seniors. How could the Golden Knights do anything else but win with such an array of pep and vim? The girls' varsity, captained by Patricia Murtha, had an added honor this year by being chosen the g'Cheerleaders of North Jerseyf, They received a trophy of which they are justly proud. Marilyn Cohrs. captain of the Varsity cheerleaders. per- sonilies the typical Valley spirit as she assumes one of her many cheering poses. Our new football team would not be complete without cheerleaders. These young ladies Hll the bill very nicely. They are, left to right, ,Ioan Rostiac, Kathleen Lynch, De Sales Gibbons. Carol Zeigler, Marilyn Cohrs, Mary Barry, Nancy Barton, Kathleen Reilly, and Dolores Kloss.
