BASKET!! ll.. .A Slllllll WHER A crucial moment in the game with Newark Vocational! jim-Jim Ennis sends the ball on its way while big Jim Mooney stands ready. Three cheers for Valley! Soley made it in spite of strong opposition! X TfEfAfM! yea, team! And what a team we have this year! With our cofcaptains, Richie Vogt and Charlie lvlclsaughlin, the Hcinderella kids of little Our Lady of the Valley got off to a fine start. Toward the end of our season, we suff fered the loss of Richie Vogt due to an ankle injury, thus leaving Charlie McLaughlin and our new addi- tion, Jim Ahearn, to carry on through the final games and the opening of our Hrst tournament games in the Essex County Tournament. Believe it or not, we proudly upset the West Orange team and came through until the semiffinals. Richie Vogt came back in the State Tournament and put his old spark in the team and helped us come up to the finals in the North Jersey Division of the New Jersey State Tournament. Numbered among our players this -year are Charlie Mclsaughlin, of whom we're very proud, especially in the wonderful defense games he has been playing, Richie Vogt, Irvington's loss, jim Ahearn, and his basketball pal, Big jim Mooney, and Jimfjim Ennis and Jack Soley, who improved with every game, and also Herbie Mardany, Ronnie Bush' well, Sam Cianti, and Whitey Lee. Cut Schedule this year has been terrific with many wins and few losses. It could never be said that we ever had a dull moment in our games. Many times we stumbled but we always came through victorious. A close contest-whose is it? l Slllll
