It marked the seventyfhfth anniversary of the founda' tion of our beloved parish, Our Lady of the Valley, and we, as students of its High School, are happy and proud in its accomplishments, A week of celebrating and festivities in honor of this great event brought together many old friends and recalled many heartwarming memories. On Sunday, October 24, at elevenffifteen o'clock Solemn Pontificat Mass Coram Pontifice was celebrated by the Most Reverend james A. McNulty, D.D,, with the Reverend Cornelius J. Boyle, a former curate, as Deacon, and the Reverend Louis Devaney, SJ., a boy of the parish, as SubfDeacon. The Most Reverend Thomas Joseph Walsh, S,T.D.J.C.D., Archbishop of Newark, presided at this glorious ceremony and bestowed his gracious benediction upon all present. On October the twentyfthird, nineteen hundred and fortyfeight, Bishop McNulty with impressive ceremonies consecrated the 'newly decorated church which has been greatly beautified in preparation for this eventful occasion. DUI AGM 1 Archbishop Walsh delivers the official message of Pope Pius XII elevating Father Mechler to the position of Domestic Prelate in the Papal Household. The Arch- bishop concluded by giving his own congratulatory message. Part of the celebration of the elevation of Father Mechler to the Monsignorate consisted of a tableau given by our students featuring the Angels of the Priesthood. Our Pages announced each operetta in turn. Our smiling pastor, Monsignor Mechler, cuts the Dia- mond Jubilee Cake baked for the occasion while the visit- ing clergy look on. A miniature replica of the first Church building formed the decoration surmounting the cake. Only a Rose from Vagabond King proved a favorite as Teresa and Joseph Arno! once again revived this enchanting melody. Who doesn't love that enchanting tune, Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life, from Naughty Marietta, our 1948 production. Paul Monte and Margaret Haas enjoy reliv- ing the old days. I
