oan Koehler and Pat Walsh wait anxiously for the rebound! Striving always with fighting hearts and deter' mined wills, our Girls' Varsity, under the capable guidance of Miss Tomasko, our coach, and the lead' ership of our staunch captain, Mzirie Stopfer, achieved an cnviahlc record. Proud are we of our Eve good forwards, Marie Stopfcr, Maureen Mc' Kenna, joan Carroll, Joan Moran and Josephine Genovese, always with their eyes glued on the hal! and the basket, while our dcfense leaders, Patricia Walsh, .Ioan Koehler and Bernadette Boyle, formed an excellent hulwark against the onslaught of our opponents. The most tense and exciting game of the season was that of Valley vs. St. Vincent's team, played on the Valley court. A heavily favored St. Vin' cent's team was met and overcome by our hard fighting girls. Not once did they give St. Vincent's an opportunity to surge ahead. Patricia Walsh was outstanding in her defensive playing against the tall forward, Rita Hekker. Our forwards outfmaneuvf ered their guards to get the greatly needed Held goals time and again. What a delight to our eyes to see that ending score 31-26 in our favor, But alas, for our hopes! Sad to relate, our return game on St. Vineent's Court did not result so happily. In fact, it was too sad to talk about! We're still hoping for that Championship!!!
