BIG BROTHERS The Big Brother program is an important asset in the development of the younger seminarians. The Seniors really make it a serious job to guide Freshmen so they may situate themselves into the surroundings of the seminary. 1. Freshmen Mike Gambell and David Perez Carrillo ask Big Brother Kevin Nolan if they may borrow the car for the weekend. 2. Cuong Phan is visited in his dorm by his little brothers, Steve Gable and Hipolito Munoz-Navarrete, who are in- terested in the book he is read- ing. 3. FIELD TRIPS Twice a year the seminarians venture out of the seminary to different. sites in southern California. These arc meant as an extension of the education given in the classroom and they give the students a first hand look at the subjects they are studying The students return with information that can never be found in textbooks. Nick Calvano leaves the bus after a long trip to Edwards Air Force Base as Mr. Bustamante makes sure no one is left behind. The Sophomores pay close at- tention to the t.our guide as he explains the purpose of the A-10 attack jet. E SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE RETREATS The weekend retreats introduce the seminary to seventh and eighth grade boys, and aid them in deciding about their future They are to listen to God and discover their calling v ff Msgr. Bauler and Ralph Gam- boa say good-by to the seventh and eighth graders and their families. One of the boys on the retreat tries to prove his group is the best while Marco Medina dili- gently prevents the others from causing chaos.
