Student's Concerns and Opinions Voiced by Class Representatives Confronting and working for the defeat of a nearly overwhelming tide of apathy was a major concern of student government this year. Seminars welcoming criticism and comment were presented in February. Conducted by officers and representatives, these groups were open to any and all students. Open discussion was held and suggestions were noted, researched and possibly acted upon. Student government also organized a highly successful Christmas project for Mrs. Bell — collecting enormous amounts of food, clothing and toys. In December, a bagel sale was featured to help finance the upcoming A-Ball. The structure of Mercy’s student government consists of two Executive Board and eight General Council members from each class. This structure is in its second year of operation. Facets of Journalism Combine to Produce Yearbook The most effective method of journalistic communication is the utilization of both photography and print to get the message across. A yearbook is a fine example of student photojournalism. The production of the book is the result of four staffs — Business, including advertising and subscriptions; Layout, responsible for the design and appearance of the pages; Copy, encompassing appearance of the pages; Copy, encompassing all written work in the book; and Photography which takes, develops and selects which pictures will appear in Lore. Working intensely in their own areas, the staffs ultimately combine to produce the finished page. Co-editors.in chief are Peggy Mangold and Mary Long. Photography editor is Roseanne Hebeler.
