Though these various units possess their distinctive char- acteristics, they all share the unity of being student-centered. The new Counseling Serv- ice is designed to give each student a self-knowl- edge of her scholastic and vocational aptitudes. A closer relationship among faculty, parents, and students is the express goal of the Rosarium Club. Development of the spiritual life, growth in self-government, and enjoyment of sports are the ideals of the Sodality, Student Council, and Athletic Association, respectively. The silver- tongued find their refuge in debate, the thes- pians in drama, those with a journalistic bent on publications staffs, and the musically inclined in chorale. For those who look toward tomor- row, there are the future clubs to give an in- sight into most feminine vocations. Mercy's fond hope is that these organizations are not only a sign of her growth, but also a source of development for all her students. Sodality officers, Chris Kennedy, vice-prefect, and Mary Ann Przybysz, prefect, record the arrival of a new shipment of cards as Virginia Gerhard, secretary, and Mary McGreevy, treas- urer, sort the boxes for distribution.

OLM Introduces Counseling Program A student counseling program was introduced at Mercy this year. Under the auspices of quali- lied faculty, tests were administered to measure scholastic achievement and ability and voca- tional aptitude. Convocations and special guid- ance meetings were incorporated into the pro- gram. College Night, sponsored by the Rosarium Club, also guided Juniors and Seniors in their preparation for the future by giving sound ad- vice on higher education. Mrs. Ryan, of the Michigan Employment Security Com mission, conducts Eileen Lamb into the Rosarium coun- seling room for the results of Eileen's aptitude tests. 30
