Sister Mary Ignatius, art instructor, fashions the tones for her icon of Our Lady of Vladimir, initially displayed at Marian Day and again shown at a national Sodality convention. Mercy's gym annually becomes a miniature Greenwich Village as future Rembrandts display their efforts for interested patrons. Artists Portra Bcaut Talent, the key to the art department, un- locks the door to beauty. Under the creative hand of Sister Mary Ignatius, Mercians blessed with this gift from God can develop it for His honor and glory. A four year program provides training in basic skills and fundamental techniques. Schol- astic Art competition and the annual OLM art show allow for expression of artistic talent.

Join sides with five-eighths inch seam allowance is the instruc- tion as Home and Family Living students construct their first garments. -J HQ Delia Bradley watches as her father, an established De- troit florist, demonstrates the art of flower arrange- ment to the home economics class. Domestic Aptitudes Centering around the home and fami- ly, the study of home economics pre- pares girls for their future in either the single or married life. Knowledge at- tained through this course, whether it be in furnishing a home or designing a formal, becomes invaluable as voca- tions are chosen. Perfect for a winter formal . . . White bro- cade tops a blue satin skirt of unpressed pleats. Accented by white pearls and blue feathers, the outfit is completed by adding immaculate wristlength gloves. Margaret Michalski gives her outfit a final check before taking it home. Written originally as the thesis for her doctorate, Sister Mary Jeanne's units form the basis for the Home and Family Living course. Sue Meagher helps Sister prepare the books for students. 21

Tempera paints provide the color as Evelyn Dysarz, Judi Rink, Sue Stof- fer, and Sue Kowalski design covers for the memory book of the National Catholic Theater Conference. 23
